Child left with life-threatening injuries after west Toledo apartment fire

Crews say the child was found outside the apartment suffering from severe burns.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A child is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after an apartment fire in west Toledo Monday night. 

Fire crews were dispatched to the Larchmont Apartment complex on the 1300 block of Slater Street around 10:15 p.m.

Officials say they received a call saying a child was outside the complex with unknown injuries.

Fire officials at the scene say found a child suffering from severe burns and saw smoke showing from a second floor apartment.

Crews administered advanced life support treatment to the child before the child was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

There were no reports of any other injuries.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire that was contained to a bedroom by 10:34 p.m.

A fire investigation will take place to determine the cause of the blaze.
