(WTOL) - Due to recent rainfall, flood warnings have been issued for multiple counties in the area.

A lakeshore flood warning is in affect until 4 p.m. for Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky and Erie Counties.

The National Weather Service says lakeshore areas in the western basin of Lake Erie, including the islands, will continue to rise during the afternoon and cause lakeshore flooding.

NWS says water levels could reach 80 inches and result in minor flooding through the afternoon, with beach and lakeshore erosion and docks and shoreline structures submerged.

A Lakeshore Flood Warning is issued when flooding is occurring or imminent along the lake.
