TOLEDO, Ohio — Police say a man is dead after causing multiple crashed in north Toledo early Friday morning.
Police say 46-year-old Leroy Hawkins was driving a Kia when he was involved in a three-car crash on Matszinger, where he left a license plate and front bumper at the scene.
Police say Hawkins fled the scene of that crash before causing another crash by hitting a Hummer and crashing head-on into an oncoming SUV. The Kia was then hit by another SUV.
Hawkins was taken to the hospital by life squad where he was later pronounced dead.
Two other people, 21-year-old Dorian Dunn and 26-year-old Donald Reddick were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Stickney was closed between Matszinger and Chrysler Drive while crews investigate and clean up the scene. The road has since reopened.
