It’s June 1: Here’s what’s reopening in Ohio and the restrictions you need to know

Banquet halls, catering centers and day care centers get the green light to reopen this week.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio has reached the next step of its reopening process.

With June officially here, that means more businesses can hit the restart button, including banquet halls, catering centers and day care centers.

Although weddings have been exempt from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s orders, receptions have been limited. As of June 1, banquet halls and catering centers are granted permission to reopen – but the following restrictions (similar to safety restrictions at restaurants) are also in effect:

  • Events limited to 300 guests or fewer.
  • Tables must be at least six feet apart.
  • Employees are required to wear a mask.
  • Congregating is not permitted.

Meanwhile... If you’ve been in need of day care service, that has officially been given the green light to reopen, too. According to the order recently signed by Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton, the following restrictions are in place:

  • Staff-to-child ratios reduced.
  • Maximum number of people per room limited.
  • Children must wash their hands during drop off and pick up times.
  • Facilities encouraged to alter procedures to maintain physical distancing.
  • Temperature checks will be conducted.
  • Field trips and large-group activities canceled.
