Call 11 For Action looking for volunteers to continue the work of resolving issues and recovering money for local consumers

Call 11 For Action is committed to helping people fight scams and regain money. The group needs volunteers to continue its work.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Call 11 For Action has been working to fight consumer scams and help people regain money for decades.

Over the years the program has helped more than 22,000 local consumers recover more than $15 million.

Call 11 for Action is a special volunteer service of WTOL 11 staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers. These volunteers give the consumers a nonthreatening place to turn to, act as a neutral third party, and offer them guidance from start to finish.

Each year Call 11 For Action recovers thousands of dollars for people they help.

What is Call 11 for Action?

  • A non-profit volunteer-based telephone information, referral and action service

What does Call 11 for Action do?

  • Provides free and confidential assistance to people who call or e-mail with problems.
  • Experienced volunteer professionals, working from a comprehensive, up-to-date resources direct each caller through appropriate steps.
  • If the problem is still not solved, the volunteer may intervene and act on behalf of the caller.

Why do we need volunteers?

Volunteers are needed to help resolve consumer complaints, either by mediation or referral. 

What does it take to be a Call 11 For Action volunteer?

The most important qualification is a sincere desire to help people resolve consumer problems they have been unable to resolve themselves.  You need to be available from 10am to 3pm on the same day each week to come in and volunteer.  We ask that you make a one-year commitment to the program, and participants must be at least 18 years old.  

Do you provide training?

Yes. Our development team provides the training necessary to become a volunteer professional. 

What kind of people usually volunteer for Call 11 For Action?

All kinds: teachers, lawyers, former CEOs, engineers, homemakers, pharmacists, secretaries, government employees, and writers. People just like you! 

How much time would I need to spend each week?

Volunteers devote a few hours, one day a week, usually from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
