TIFFIN, Ohio — With the weather getting warmer, folks in Seneca County now have a chance to enjoy the outdoors with their children.
Tuesday marked the official kickoff for the Seneca County Park Districts summer programming.
About 20 different programs have been scheduled for the month of June.
After all park district programming was canceled in April due to coronavirus concerns, organizers knew they should be able to host outdoor activities once the weather got warmer.
"Our parks are large enough that you can accommodate social distancing. And we have multiple parks," said Linda Rose, Naturalist & Preschool Coordinator for the Seneca County Park District
Programs range from preschool and go all the way up to adult and family fun activities. Bird watching, canoeing, and hiking are all things anyone can enjoy while also keeping themselves safe from exposure to the coronavirus.
Organizers said they know that with school out, parents and kids will be ready to get out of the house and enjoy some nature.
"Kids need to be in the outdoors. And that is probably one of the greatest classrooms that we have. There is so much to see, learn, and do out there," Rose said.
If you're interested in taking part in one of these outdoor programs, you can register online at least 24 hours in advance so the parks district can plan accordingly.
