Getting ready for spring at the Toledo Golf Show and House and Home Show this weekend

One exhibitor, Elite Awning and Sun Shades, demonstrates how their remote control operates a retractable patio awning to keep you in the shade on those hot summer days.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - With record breaking temperatures this week spring sure doesn't feel like it's just around the corner, but two events in Toledo this weekend could put you in the mood for it.

At the Seagate Centre the House and Home Show might have you feeling as if spring is just a click away.

One exhibitor, Elite Awning and Sun Shades, demonstrates how their remote control operates a retractable patio awning to keep you in the shade on those hot summer days.

"People are staying at home, putting their money in their homes and trying to enjoy their backyards a little more. This adds to that," said salesman Steve Miller.

Folks at the show are now ready to exchange cabin fever for some spring fever.

"Get out in the garden. Be outside. Have nice temperatures,” said House and Home Show visitor.

“I'd like to get out of my sweatshirt and heavy shoes and pants and put my shorts and t-shirts on," said House and Home Show visitor.

And at the Toledo Golf Show at Tam-O-Shanter you might find the right pair of shorts or pants to wear.

"They're just crazy pants. When my dad and I wear them, everybody knows where we're at I guess,” said Toledo Golf Show visitor.

At the Golf Show you can work on your swing by playing Golf-zilla. But don't expect to head out onto the course anytime soon. The arctic blast has put a hold on any outings.

"We get ready to open our golf course March first, that's only a week and a half away. With this snow on the ground it makes it tough,” said Cody Morse with Detweiler Golf Course.

But the awning guy at least has a friendly reminder.

"28 days until spring, that's what we're talking about,” said Miller.
