Springfield High School creates prom video for senior class

Springfield Local Schools is still finding ways to help seniors feel like they were able to participate in the traditional senior year activities, like prom.

HOLLAND, Ohio — The students at Springfield High School weren't able to have prom this year, but faculty and staff still wanted to celebrate, even if virtually.

Springfield created a prom video to help keep the tradition alive — especially for graduating seniors.

It's not the prom you'd think about throwing, but it's something they'll be able to look back on.

"We just asked kids to dress up in what they would have worn to prom or just get dressed up if they don't have it. Snap a picture, walk down some sort of runway. So, maybe the street, or maybe their driveway, and send us that video so we could create a really cool 'momento' for what could have been for their senior prom," prom co-advisor Katie Crago said.

She said the junior class put so much work into having a great prom and was sad that it wasn't able to happen.

But certain traditions had to go on, and no prom is complete without announcing a prom king and queen.

Prom queen Emersyn Haney said she was scared they weren't going to have prom nominations and was glad they did.

"I think the whole process, trying to make sure we still got to have all of the traditions was really cool knowing that not a lot of schools did that. and just the fact that I was nominated for it was really rewarding knowing that something so special could happen," she said.

Haney wishes they were able to have their actual prom, but this was the best thing to do to still celebrate with their classmates.
