The cold weather and winter conditions caused some Central Texas school districts to either delay or cancel classes.
Here is a list of which districts have either announced certain closures or delayed or canceled classes:
Austin Community College
Austin Community College District reopens Wednesday, Feb. 24, with all in-person and online/remote learning and work returning to their normal schedules. Eastview Campus and Cypress Creek Campus (Building 1000) remain closed until further notice. All other campuses and centers will reopen.
There will no be school on Monday, Feb. 22, and Tuesday, Feb. 23, due to the challenges the power and water outages are presenting to families. Wednesday, Feb. 24, and Thursday, Feb. 25, are 100% remote learning. Friday, Feb. 26, is asynchronous learning.
Austin ISD also said it will provide free meals for children and their caregivers at select schools from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday. The following locations will be meal sites Monday:

AISD will resume regular curbside meal service on Thursday, Feb. 25.
Bastrop ISD schools will remain closed through Monday, Feb. 22.
Blanco ISD will be canceling classes Monday, Feb. 22, and Tuesday.
Burnet schools will be closed through Friday, Feb. 19. A normal schedule will resume on Monday.
Chapparal Star Academy
Chaparral Star Academy will be closed Monday, Feb. 22, with 100% virtual instruction.
Monday, Feb. 22 will be a student holiday and teacher prep day. The early release scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 24 has been canceled.
Del Valle ISD
All Del Valle ISD classes are canceled Monday, Feb. 22 and Tuesday, Feb. 23. There will be 100% remote instruction from Feb. 24 to Feb. 26.
Dime Box ISD
Dime Box ISD will be closed on Wednesday, Feb.17, Thursday, Feb. 18 and Friday, Feb. 19. Due to connectivity issues, there will be no virtual learning.
Dripping Springs ISD
Schools in Dripping Springs ISD will be closed Monday, Feb. 22. Instruction will be 100% remote asynchronous learning on Tuesday, and operations will return to normal Wednesday.
Due to inclement weather and widespread power outages, Eanes ISD extended its closure, including remote learning, until Tuesday, Feb. 23.
In-person students may return to school Tuesday, Feb. 23. Remote learners will continue to access their learning remotely and will still be able to take advantage of the curbside meal pick-up option.
Georgetown ISD said every campus in the district will have school Monday, Feb. 22 for both on-campus and remote learners.
Harmony Public Schools – Austin
HPS Austin campuses will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 16 through Thursday, Feb. 18. On Friday, Feb. 19, students will have an asynchronous virtual learning day.
Hays CISD campuses will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, with normal classes resuming on Wednesday, including at Dahlstrom Middle School.
Hutto ISD has canceled all virtual and in-person classes for Monday, Feb. 22. Learn more. Normal operations should resume Tuesday.
IDEA Public Schools
All IDEA Austin classes have been canceled from Tuesday, Feb. 16 to Thursday, Feb. 18. Friday, Feb. 19 is a student holiday and there will be no classes.
International School of Texas
The International School of Texas is open for classes for the week of Feb. 22.
Jarrell High School will be 100% remote learning for all students through Wednesday, Feb. 24. The building will be closed.
Jarrell Middle School will be open to in-person learning this week. Water fountains and water-filling stations will be closed but bottled water and water stations will be available for students and staff. If possible, students and staff are encouraged to fill their water bottles at home.
Jarrell and Igo elementary schools will be open to in-person learning.
Jubilee Academies classes have been canceled for the remainder of the week and will resume on Monday, Feb. 22.
On, Tuesday, Feb. 23, KIPP Texas is offering asynchronous instruction for students and educators. On Wednesday, Feb. 24, students will resume virtual learning and teachers may choose to bring classes together to engage in social emotional learning experiences to aid in their recovery.
While campuses remain closed, KIPP Texas Public Schools is serving free breakfast, lunch and dinner to students Tuesday and Wednesday at all but three campuses across the state.
Lake Travis ISD
Lake Travis ISD will remain closed through Monday, Feb. 22. All classes (in-person and remote), activities and events are canceled through Monday; all schools and District offices will remain closed through Monday. All classes, activities and events will resume as scheduled on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
Lago Vista ISD
Lago Vista Elementary School and Lago Vista High School will operate normally Monday, Feb. 22. The district is encouraging students to bring bottled drinking water, if possible.
Lago Vista Intermediate School and Lago Vista Middle School will have remote learning for all students on Monday, Feb. 22. Crews are working to address plumbing damage at both schools, which will determine if school resumes normally on Tuesday.
The district said all of its buildings have power and water access.
Leander ISD said it will remain closed Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 22 and Feb. 23, due to water loss and building damage.
LISD will return to normal schedule Monday, Feb. 22.
Liberty Hill ISD
Liberty Hill ISD is canceling classes Monday, Feb. 22 and will be a staff workday. LHISD said classes will resume for in-person and asynchronous learning on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at the following schools:
- Liberty Hill High School
- Rancho Sienna Elementary
- Santa Rita Elementary
- Bill Burden Elementary
In-person learning will resume for Liberty Hill Elementary, Liberty Hill Intermediate and Liberty Hill Jr. High on Thursday, Feb. 25. Remote learning will continue for these campuses on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
Llano ISD Schools will have normal operations on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021. Due to a boil water notice in Llano and Kingsland communities, students are asked to bring a bottle or thermos of personal drinking water from home.
Lockhart ISD will remain closed Wednesday, Feb. 17, through Tuesday, Feb. 23. The district said it will still provide free breakfast and lunch on Monday and Tuesday. Lockhart ISD schools will resume normal operations Wednesday, Feb. 24. On-campus learners will be able to return, and distance learning will resume as well.
All Manor ISD schools will participate in 100% remote learning from Monday, Feb. 22 through Wednesday, Feb. 24. Curbside meal service will resume on Monday.
Marble Falls ISD
Marble Falls ISD said its campuses will be closed through Friday, Feb. 19, with all weekend activities also canceled. The district said normal operations will return on Monday, Feb. 22.
The following campuses are also subject to a boil water notice: Marble Falls High School, Colt Elementary School, Highland Lakes Elementary School and Spicewood Elementary School.
Pflugerville ISD students will participate in virtual learning Monday, Feb. 22 and Tuesday, Feb. 23, due to water damage on some campuses. The district plans to return to in-person learning on Wednesday.
Round Rock ISD
Round Rock ISD said all classes and offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.
A small number of schools will have adjustments made to their campus operations to accommodate repairs and impacts due to the winter storm.
Adjustments to campus operations include:
- Robertson Elementary School will participate in asynchronous virtual learning for the remainder of the week. Students will return to campus on Tuesday, March 2.
- Deerpark Middle School classes will be virtual or the remainder of the week. Students will return to campus on Tuesday, March 2.
- England Elementary School classes will be virtual on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The campus will open for on-campus students on Thursday, Feb. 25.
- Brushy Creek Elementary School classes will be virtual on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The campus will open for on-campus students on Thursday, Feb. 25.
San Marcos CISD
San Marcos CISD will return to regular district operations on Monday, Feb. 22.
Due to hazardous road conditions, Smithville ISD decided to cancel all classes for the remainder of the week. Classes will resume at the regular time on Monday, Feb. 22.
Southwestern will conduct all classes remotely as students and faculty are able on Monday, Feb. 22.
Stepping Stone School
Stepping Stone School locations throughout the Austin area will be closed through Friday, Feb. 19.
St. Edward's University
All on-campus, virtual and remote classes, events and activities remain canceled through 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
St. Michael's Catholic Academy
St. Michael's Catholic Academy will be 100% remote learning on Friday, Feb. 19.
Taylor ISD campuses will be closed on Monday, Feb. 22 due to water and facility concerns.
Texas State Technical College
TSTC said the earliest it intends to return to normal operations is Monday, Feb. 22.
Texas State University
All classes in-person and virtual are canceled until 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24. "We know our community is dealing with the aftermath of the storm & we want to provide all Bobcats time to recover," the university said Friday.
Thrall ISD canceled school for the remainder of the week. There was no remote learning this week as previously planned.
University of Texas
The university's campus will remain closed through at least Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 8 a.m. Classes will also be canceled with a few exceptions. Click here for the latest updates.
Valor Public Schools
VPS is canceling school for Thursday, Feb. 17.
Wimberley ISD will hold classes for all grade levels on Monday, Feb. 22.
