TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - The East Toledo Community Health Center is hosting its grand opening Monday.

Doors opened at the clinic on Star Avenue at 8 a.m.

The center will accept patients regardless of their access to health insurance. If patients do not have insurance, they are placed on a sliding fee scale and will pay a reduced price.

This is all being operated through Health Partners of Western Ohio.

The center's services are open to children, adults and seniors. The clinic focuses on several areas of health, including:

  • High blood pressure tests
  • Diabetes
  • Women's health and birth control
  • Wellness checks
  • Shots for children and babies
  • Colon checks

"Community health centers are neighborhood-based healthcare, and we're really supposed to be in the community where people live. So we love the fact that people can walk to us, and the people that work here actually come from the neighborhood and from the community," said Janis Sunderhaus, CEO of Health Partners of Western Ohio. "Our goal is to actually be an economic engine for revitalization in addition to providing great quality care, and also great jobs."

The clinic also offers bilingual services, transportation and helping patients sign up for a healthcare plan if they do not have one.

Mercy Health helped transition the clinic building to Health Partners, which plan to open more clinics in the Toledo area in the future.
