Teen who killed 98-year-old Wadsworth woman sentenced to life in prison without parole

Gavon Ramsay pleaded no contest back in November to the murder of Margaret Douglas.

The teen who killed a 98-year-old Wadsworth woman has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Gavon Ramsay, 17, was also sentenced to an additional 21 years for lesser crimes involving the April 2018 death of Margaret Douglas. Douglas, a widow who lived alone, had been strangled to death. Her body was left inside a closet at her Portage St. home.

Ramsay's sentence came after hours of testimony from doctors, juvenile center officials, and even Ramsay's parents.

Authorities said Douglas' wallet was found at Ramsay's home. Detectives also found photos of Douglas, both alive and dead, on Ramsay's phone. Some of the photos apparently involved Ramsay sexually abusing Douglas' body.

Ramsay previously struggled to fight back tears as a judge ordered the 17-year-old inmate to be transferred to the Medina County Jail when he was found guilty back in November.
