Erratic driver found shot, house hit by gunfire in central Toledo Thursday

TPD saw two vehicles driving erratically and stopped one at 17th and Jefferson. Officers believe the driver was shot near Hawley and a house on Pinewood also hit.

Toledo police are investigating after a driver was found shot in Toledo Thursday afternoon.

Crews on patrol saw two vehicles driving erratically, according to a Toledo Police Department report. The vehicles separated at Dorr Street and one was stopped at 17th Street and Jefferson Avenue around 4 p.m. Police discovered the driver, Terry Carpenter, had been shot.

Carpenter was hospitalized with unknown injuries, according to police. 

Crews responded to where the vehicles had come from, finding a home in the 1100 block of Pinewood Avenue had been hit by gunfire. No one was injured inside the home.

Police believe the victim was shot somewhere near Hawley Street. Our WTOL 11 crew on the scene was told that Carpenter was inside his car when he was shot.

So far, no suspects are in custody and it's not known if the other vehicle was found or involved in the incident.
