PERRYSBURG (WTOL) - Ground has broken on another season of hopes and dreams on Friday as dirt was turned at the next St. Jude Dream Home site.
Dozens of dignitaries joined the Perrysburg High School Band as the first shovels hit the earth at the Perrysburg location where the 2019 Dream Home will be built. Your chance to win the Dream Home starts this spring.
Buckeye Real Estate Group is again building the Dream Home, as they did last year's home in Waterville.
“A couple months prior, we started getting the plans together. Now we get the ground breaking today, (and) a couple weeks from now we’re gonna actually do the excavation to get the foundation going. And then before you know it, it’ll be April and the house is going to be under roof and in August we’ll be giving it away,” said Mike White of Buckeye Real Estate Group.
“It’s wonderful. We’re just a small little piece of it, but these builds are across the country and it’s great to be involved in a community like Perrysburg and be all a part of this, it’s wonderful.”
Last year's campaign officially raised more than $1 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Life-saving care and research is found at St. Jude in Memphis, Tenn. The hospital, founded by Toledo son Danny Thomas, opens its arms to families worldwide, and families never receive a single bill for food, housing or medical treatment.
Tickets for a chance to win the St. Jude Dream Home will go on sale this spring. Stay tuned!
