TOLEDO, Ohio — The city of Toledo has named Brandon Sehlhorst the new Commissioner of Economic Development.

Sehlhorst, the current senior manager of site selection for the Regional Growth Partnership, will start his new role on July 8.

“Brandon is extremely talented and has a wealth of experience helping businesses thrive in Toledo,” Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said. “We are excited to welcome him to the helm of a team that is working everyday to help create jobs and stability for our city and our future.”

Former economic commissioner Bill Burkett resigned after being accused of seriously injuring a 15-year-old boy while driving intoxicated near Fallen Timbers in May.

Sehlhorst, a Toledo native, is excited to begin his role as economic commissioner.

“I would like to thank the mayor for this opportunity to lead economic development at the city,” Sehlhorst said. “I am a Toledo native who moved back to the city nearly three years ago after working in economic development in Cincinnati for several years. I decided to move back to Toledo to pursue my dream of doing economic development in my hometown. I will bring a strong passion, a refreshed energy, and creative ideas to this position. I look forward to working with the city’s economic development team, our partners, and new and existing businesses on continuing the momentum of this great city.”
