16-yr-old fatal stabbing suspect injured after crash in west Toledo

Toledo police have arrested a 16-year-old they say stabbed a family in west Toledo Monday, killing one.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Toledo police have arrested a 16-year-old they say stabbed a family in west Toledo Monday, killing one.

Just after 9 a.m. this morning police say the teen stabbed three family members, 14-year-old Johnny Jones, 16-year-old Joselyn Jones, and 37-year-old Josie Thomas, at their home in the 1000 block of Alcott in west Toledo. Johnny died from his injuries.

The suspect then walked back to his house two blocks away and told his mom he had done something very bad. His mother contacted police and told them to go to the house on Alcott.

Neighbors say Joselyn was dating the suspect and was trying to break things off. They describe the family targeted as a great family.

"He was a sweet boy and he didn't deserve to die. He was autistic and never hurt anyone," said neighbor Jamie Babcock about Johnny.

"It's very shocking to me. I can not believe this. They were a nice family," said neighbor Regina Williams.

According to police, the suspect dropped Joselyn off at the hospital after he stabbed her. The two other victims were found inside their home on Alcott.

Police collected evidence at both the home where the stabbings occurred and the suspects home. They spent most of the day looking for the suspect's red van. When they finally located him, the suspect tried to speed off but crashed, hitting a pole at Sylvania and Heatherstone.

The suspect had to then be cut out of the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The condition of both the suspect and the two victims is unknown at this time.
