WTOL 11 'Leaders in Action' honoree nominated for his desire to create positive impact

Bruce Yacko has great passion for his employees, our community and the planet.

TOLEDO, Ohio — You vote and we award a community leader for their passion and dedication to our community.

This month's WTOL 11 Leader in Action is Bruce Yacko.

Yacko owns Toledo-based Canberra Corporation and Jaws International.

"His enthusiasm is infectious with everyone he meets," his daughter-in-law, Felicia Yacko, said.

Felicia nominated Bruce, she says, for his great passion for his employees, the surrounding community and our planet.

She says his enthusiasm is infectious among every person he meets. He inspires his employees to engage in their communities and look beyond the job to create an impact.

Yacko founded Jaws International as a way to reduce the world's carbon footprint through safer cleaning products and plastic reduction.

"There's a community beyond our walls, where we want to have it as a place we enjoy," Yacko said.

Canberra Corporation has been based in Toledo since 1964. Through Canberra's growth and success as a cleaning product chemical manufacturer, Felicia says Yacko has given back to Toledo year after year in supporting the community through many charitable organizations, including Cherry Street Mission, Mom's House and The United Way of Greater Toledo.

"To support this community in the way we have and to grow to love this community in the way we have is really awesome," said Yacko.
