Tri-C cancels annual Jazzfest Cleveland due to COVID-19

The event was scheduled to take place in late June.

CLEVELAND — Fans of classical jazz music, look away.

The 41st annual Tri-C Jazzfest Cleveland has been cancelled due to coronavirus fears in Northeast Ohio.

Organizers of the event, which was scheduled for June 25-27 at Playhouse Square, are hopeful that a virtual presentation of some of the music may be possible.

“We see this as an opportunity to showcase Cleveland’s best while giving jazz fans everywhere a special treat,” said Terri Pontremoli, director of Tri-C JazzFest. “You can’t beat the experience of live music in crowded concert halls and clubs, but this is another way to sustain musicians and feed the souls of our audience.”

Individuals will have the opportunity to receive a refund if they purchased advanced tickets.

A new digital concert schedule has yet to be announced.
