CLEVELAND — With large scale events put on hold across the country, Insomniac Events has answered the call for music entertainment with a two-day event: the Beyond Wonderland Virtual Rave-A-Thon.
The online-only show kicked off on Friday, in place of the live event, Beyond Wonderland SoCal, that was supposed to take place this weekend but has instead been rescheduled to late June at this time.
A second act scheduled from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Pacific on Saturday night (starting at 11 p.m. Eastern on Saturday and extending into Sunday morning at 2 a.m. for the country's east coast).
Insomniac's CEO and co-founder Pasquale Rotella wrote on Facebook on Friday, ahead of going live: "Who's ready to RAVE?!! Responsibly, from the safety and comfort of your own home of course!!"
Headliners include: 4B, Audien, Dr. Fresch, Drezo, Jack Beats, Kill the Noise, Loud Luxury, Mija, Monxx, Ookay, Partay Favor, SayMyName, Svdden Death, Wax Motif and more.
The event will stream live with DJs on Twitch and YouTube, with both of those streams available here.
With #BeyondWonderland trending on Twitter after the first show, event planners are asking people connecting from all over the world to use #VirtualBeyond to get social with others watching and listening during Saturday's performances.
Insomniac is the company behind hugely popular music festivals including Beyond Wonderland, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) and HARD Summer.
The company made the call to offer this weekend's free, streaming version of Beyond Wonderland, after moving Beyond Wonderland SoCal from to dates June 19-20 in San Bernardino.
As of now, Insomniac still has the sold-out EDC Las Vegas festival on the calendar for May 15-17, though Rotella wrote on Facebook on March 12: "I recognize this is a fluid situation, and if there are any changes I will keep you all updated with clear and accurate information."
Throughout the pause that's been put on gathering in public, Insomniac will broadcast footage of classic festival sets via Insomniac Rewind.
That entertainment will be running now through at least March 31 at tv.insomniac.com.
