TOLEDO, Ohio — Kristy Gerlett is the morning reporter for WTOL 11. She moved to the Glass City from the San Francisco Bay area where she was born and raised. Half-Bayarean, half New Yorker, Kristy has spent a lot of time on both coasts. She graduated from Stony Brook University with a bachelor's degree in journalism, specializing in American diversity. While a college student, Kristy created the university’s first ever Spanish language newscast, and was the vice president of the university’s chapter of Society of Professional Journalists.

Kristy’s interned at WABC-TV in New York City, and began her professional career as a multimedia journalist at KFDA NewsChannel 10, the CBS affiliate, in Amarillo, Texas. After taking time off, Kristy returned to local news by joining the ABC affiliate in Toledo, Ohio. For nearly a year, Kristy covered stories such as the nationally recognized missing person case of Dee Ann Warner and she broke the news of ice fisherman being stranded off Catawba Island, which also made national headlines.

Kristy now joins Tim Miller and Tiffany Tarpley, along with the rest of the team on WTOL 11 This Morning.
