TOLEDO, Ohio — Emma Henderson has been with WTOL for nearly two years. Her main focuses have been covering city council, social services and the LGBTQ Community. Emma was born and raised in the Columbus, Ohio area. Her passion for journalism began when she took an internship at the Ohio Capitol through Ohio State's John Glenn College of Public Affairs during the 2012 election year.
She attended the University of Missouri's School of Journalism where she graduated with a Bachelor's of Journalism with a focus in Investigative Reporting in 2016. While in college, she reported and anchored for KOMU 8 news and was part of an investigative unit that won a Regional Murrow Award.
Her first job was up North in Wausau Wisconsin where she established herself as a multimedia journalist regularly covering city and state politics and eventually filling in on the anchor desk. While at WSAW, they won both News Operation of the Year and Station of the Year through the Wisconsin Broadcaster's Association.
Emma enjoys being a mentor for young and aspiring journalists and being active in the Toledo community. She spends her free time volunteering at a local food pantry, serving on the Toledo Pride Board and adventuring in the Metroparks with her dog Sadie who was rescued from the Toledo Humane Society.
