A note from Melissa

It's a new era as Melissa Andrews joins the anchor desk at night here at WTOL 11!

TOLEDO, Ohio — Hello to our evening on-air and app viewers!

Melissa Andrews here, popping into your browser from WTOL's morning show with some exciting news.

Starting Aug. 31, you can find me anchoring the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. shows on WTOL 11.

I've been anchoring the Emmy-winning morning show for eight years and you may have seen some of my stories in the evening newscasts, or maybe we've met at community events in our area. Think Race for the Cure, Toledo Heart Walk, Barefoot at the Beach, and Justice for Sierah events.

I'm excited to work with our content staff every day to cover not only what's happening and why, but who these stories affect and why it should matter to you.

Our country and our community is in the midst of difficult times, with much uncertainty as to when the Coronavirus will leave us, if ever, and what our lives will look like until that day.

I want you to know that I'm a member of this community for 13 years, a wife and a mom.

I realize your day is busy. You have practices to get the kids to, and meals to get on the table, but I hope you'll try to catch our evening newscasts.

And, just like you, I don't want anyone wasting my time either. That's why I'm invested in making sure we cover the most important stories in our community, finding answers and delivering the truth to you every day, and I expect our team to do the same. You can always turn to us for real, local and fact-based reporting. You don't have to question that we deliver the news fairly, and right down the middle.

That's my plan when I join you in the evening. I'm looking forward to it, and my kids are looking forward to mom's cinnamon rolls in the mornings.

See you soon,

Melissa
