SYLVANIA (WTOL) - A Sylvania man is in custody after an incident with his neighbor led to a standoff with police.
It happened on the 5700 block of Cushman Rd.
Police were originally called to the scene around noon after 40-year-old John Kujawa allegedly caused damage to his neighbor’s property.
When police arrived on the scene, Kujawa ran back into his house.
The Sylvania Metro Special Response Team was called in and tried to convince Kujawa to leave his home and talk with police, but he refused.
Finally, police decided to use tear gas, which led Kujawa to leave his home and surrender.
He was taken to the Lucas County Jail.
Kujawa was wanted by authorities for burglary, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
