WTOL Editorial: It's La-La land in Toledo

The past few days in Toledo have been ... interesting. We don't need another interesting week any time soon, Bob says.

The past few days in Toledo have been... interesting.

The Mayor tried to raise the taxes residents pay for working outside the city limits. As they say in the South, that dog don't hunt. So the Mayor had to tuck tail and watch as his tax proposal got 11-no votes from City Council. He says they lack courage. Looks like they finally found some backbone and told the Mayor no on something. Anyway, it's kinda weird that the idea of raising these taxes got hammered but the cost of the trillion dollar stimulus plan doesn't seem to bother people.

I don't get it.

And speaking of not getting it, you had to shake your head in disbelief when Jason Webber, Carty's press secretary, posted some private thoughts about working for the mayor on the not-so-private internet.

And then we discovered that Toledo has the highest unemployment rate of any major city in Ohio. OUCH! Let's hope some of the trillion dollar stimulus plan finds its way here. We're  paying for it so we might as well get something.
