SOUTH TOLEDO (WTOL) - 28 year-old Holly Darrah and her unborn son Cole Alexander Darrah died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday, March 5 around 11:15 a.m.. A toddler in the car, Riley Thetford, remains in serious condition at Toledo Hospital.

Darrah was mortally injured at the scene and had no vital signs. Paramedics performed CPR to provide a heartbeat and bloodflow. A Promedica flight surgeon decided to attempt a c-section delivery of an 8 month unborn fetus. The baby was delivered in route to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center but was pronounced dead in St. V's E-R.

Investigators believe her car gradually veered off the road onto the median. The car struck a tree and was spun into two other trees in the median. The police do not know why the car veered gradually to the left or if Darrah was distracted.  Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call CrimeStoppers at (419) 255-1111.

The accident, on the Anthony Wayne Trail south of Copland, closed the Trail in both directions Thursday afternoon.
