Konop wants warden to investigate dog's death

TOLEDO (WTOL) - A Lucas County commissioner is demanding answers from the dog warden's office about the recent death of a dog.

Commissioner Ben Konop is calling on the county's dog warden advisory committee to investigate an incident that happened Feb. 10 in Point Place.

A 10-lb. Pomeranian-Beagle mix was shot with a tranquilizer gun by a deputy warden. The dog later died.

The dog had been a birthday gift from a dad to his daughter.

"Not a day goes by she doesn't mention it. I get pretty choked up about it. Really does bother me," said Chad Snyder.

Tomorrow county commissioners are expected to appoint members to the advisory committee. Meanwhile dog warden Tom Skeldon says the matter has already been dealt with.
