WHITEHOUSE, Ohio (WTOL) - Teachers and staff in the Anthony Wayne School District have founded an organization, coined  "Anthony Wayne Spirit of Giving", to help struggling families in their community.

The main goal of this organization is to raise funds to lessen the financial burden of families facing extreme medical expenses. They have chosen to "adopt" Brittany Kookoothe and her family for 2009.

Brittany was recently diagnosed with cancer, which has placed a significant amount of strain on the family both financially and emotionally. Over the next year,  Spirit of Giving will be holding fundraisers and organizing volunteer work to help the Kookoothes, as well as other families living in the Anthony Wayne school district.

Spaghetti Dinner February, February 20

On February 20, 2009,  the group will host a spaghetti dinner at the high school. Proceeds from the dinner will go directly to help struggling families. You can read more about the group at www.awspiritofgiving.com. The dinner will take place from 4-8 p.m. at the high school located at 5967 Finzel Rd. in Whitehouse.

The proceeds of this dinner will help the families of Brittany Kookoothe, who is a third grader at Waterville Elementary and Vesta Miller, a Kindergartner at Whitehouse Elementary.
