Editorial Response: Viewers respond to Clyde cancer editorial

WTOL Vice President and General Manager Bob Chirdon WTOL Vice President and General Manager Bob Chirdon

The community of Clyde is suffering from a strange and unexplained cancer cluster. A recent editorial on this sad story provoked a number of responses from you. Here are a few of the comments.

"I wonder how many of those parents of children with cancer were from Clyde originally. And, were they affected by that lawsuit back in the '80s? Seems like there are a lot of people that deserve answers." -- Lisa

"This is abhorrent, and your news team did a wonderful job bringing it to our attention. Would this have happened in a larger city?" -- Jeanette

"We live in Clyde, and my child is in Tanner's class at school. We support many of the fund raisers for all the children. Our hearts go out to them and their families and pray ours is not the next one afflicted." -- online comment by screen name DragonLady

"I was horrified to hear the EPA has known about this problem and has yet to conduct any tests. Sure looks like the EPA has let itself become so big, with so many departments, that it can no longer do the job." --Chuck

Well, the EPA has responded. As part of their investigation, they set up a web page to deal with this situation. Here is the address if you want to visit the site. In the meantime Clyde, WTOL promises to be your advocate. We are with you.
