Wilkowski introduces economic team

TOLEDO, OH - Democrat Keith Wilkowski today introduces the Toledo Economic Recovery Council, a panel that will advise the 2009 Toledo mayoral candidate on economic strategies.

"We need jobs here and we need jobs now," says Wilkowski. "With Washington debating an unprecedented economic recovery plan, we must take steps now to ensure that Toledo is not left behind."

The Council is composed of community leaders in business, labor and economic development.

Bill Brennan is the President of the Associated General Contractors of Northwest Ohio and former Board Chair of the Regional Growth Partnership, Northwest Ohio's private sector economic development agency.

Ken Dobson is the Director of the Clean and Green Building Resource Laboratory at the University of Toledo. In 2005, Dobson was awarded the Richard Preston Award and honorable mention recognition by the International Economic Development Council.

Mary Gregory is the Executive Vice President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Northwest Ohio, a trade association that serves as the voice of mechanical contractors in the region.

Mike Haupricht is the Business Manager and Executive Secretary of the Northwestern Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council.

Olivia Holden is the Executive Director of Assets Toledo, a non-profit organization serving small business owners with self-employment training and support.

Hernan Vasquez is the President/CEO of Mandell-Vasquez, Inc. commercial HVAC contractors and a past Trustee of the University of Toledo. In 2008, the Northwest Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce honored Vasquez as their "Businessperson of the Year."

Mary Jo Waldock is Special Assistant to University of Toledo President Lloyd Jacobs for Economic Development. 

David Wallace, P.E. is past President of Benchmark Engineering and a former City of Toledo Assistant Chief Operating Officer.

    The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Thursday that an OVI checkpoint will be held in Defiance County Friday evening.
