SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP (WTOL) - Following up on a story News 11 has been covering for months, a local teenager is starting the new year with a new lease on life. Alexandra Corville turned 14 years old on January 1, 2009.

She received a life-saving heart transplant a month ago at the Cleveland Clinic. Corville was born with a congenital heart defect that doctors couldn't fix, but she says faith could.

"It's a big differnce. I can run up and down the stairs, jog, eat. I can chase the dog, talk..." Corville tells us.

The next three months will be very crucial to Alexandra's long term outcome. She says she's looking forward to being able to go back to school sometime in April.
