2 violent crimes ring in Toledo's new year

Three people were shot, and one was stabbed in south and east Toledo, respectively.

SOUTH TOLEDO (WTOL) - Shots rang out in south Toledo just before the ball dropped Wednesday night. It happened around 11 p.m. at the Brookview Apartments on Brookview Dr. near Highland.

Police say there was a shootout in the parking lot and that three people were hit. Two of the victims drove themselves to University of Toledo Medical Center, and the third was taken there by ambulance.

At least one of the victims was a teenager.

We're told none of the victims' injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

There has been no word on any arrests.

EAST TOLEDO - Police and fire crews responded to a stabbing in the 400 block of Walden in east Toledo.

Police tell us the victim was celebrating when a group of people jumped him and stabbed him twice in the back. The victim managed to walk home to get help.

He was taken to a hospital where his name and condition are not being released at this hour.
