O-DOT urges caution; road conditions hazardous

WEATHER CAUSING ACCIDENTS

Icy roads kept police and rescue crews busy overnight. A number of accidents were reported between midnight and about 2 am.

I-75 northbound had to be shut down near the downtown exit after a car lost control and rolled over. Crews waited for an O-DOT truck to lay down salt. Another driver flipped over on I-280 near I-75.

No one was hurt in either crash.

TAKE IT SLOW

The Ohio Department of Transportation wants holiday travelers to be aware of dangers on the roadway. Take it slow, they say.

Last year there were nearly 3,000 accidents on Ohio roads during the Christmas weekend.

TRAVEL DELAYS

More than 500 flights have been canceled at chicago's o'hare airport because of a new round of freezing rain.

Amtrak is also reporting a number of delays in chicago this morning.

Weather-related car crashes killed at least 8 people yesterday.
