SYLVANIA (WTOL) - A Northview High School graduate and BGSU alum is dead after a freak accident at a Christmas pageant.

Keri Shyrock, 23,  was playing a wise man in the nativity story at Crossroads Community Church in Cincinnati. Investigators say she was suspended by an overhead cable when it suddenly snapped. She fell 25 feet to the ground.

Witnesses could not believe what they were seeing.

The Xavier University graduate student was rushed to University Hospital where she died Thursday morning.

News 11 talked to her former softball coach at Northview who remembers her as a great kid.

The church has decided to cancel the 10 remaining performances of the show. Investigators are now looking into what caused the cable to snap.
