BEDFORD, Mich. (WTOL) - Jon Whitman, the owner of Whitman Ford, is expected to move a Walmart onto the property if the board approves his rezoning request.

Residents have been fighting the plan for years.

The trustees will hold a public hearing Tuesday night, December 2 and are expected to issue a final decision. The hearing is at 7 p.m. at Bedford Township Hall located at 8100 Jackman Rd. at the intersection of Jackman and Dean in Temperance.

Some residents fear even a 'no' vote won't lay the saga to rest. "You win at the planning commission level. You win at the township board level. You win in court. You relax, you go 'Oh, we're at peace now.'" Then it starts all over," says Judy Frankowsky with Bedford Watch.

If the request is approved, then the proposal goes to a referendum of the people.
