Local shoppers hit Friday sales, though still cautious

PERRYSBURG (WTOL) - Hundreds of shoppers made their pre-dawn trips to retail stores in search of Black Friday sales on what is traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year.

Our cameras were inside Kohls department store in Perrysburg aas they opened their doors at 4 a.m.

The line was long, about 700, outside as people waited to get in and get their deals. For some, it was their second stop alredy. For others, it was their first of many stops today.

Most shoppers we spoke with this morning said they are spending the same amount or less than last year. Though, they said it was worth it to brave the early morning cold and long lines for the great deals.

Deals throughout the weekend

Retailers are competing heavily for the fewer dollars many are spending. There were the one-time early bird specials, but many deals are continuing through the weekend. Visit BlackFriday.com or BlackFriday.info to find the deals before you leave the house.

Cyber Monday

The online holiday shopping season begins on Cyber Monday. About 85% of retailers will offer discounts or free shipping when ordering online the Monday after Thanksgiving. Some shoppers say it's a chance to get items they weren't able to find in the store over the weekend. Others say it's an easier way to shop to get the deals without the crowds.

CyberMonday.com lists hourly deals that will be going on Monday.
