LUCAS COUNTY (WTOL) - The slumping economy continues to take its toll on local governments, and that's creating a significant budget crunch for both the city of Toledo and Lucas County.
The city swimming pools are closed, and most of them will likely remain closed next year. Still, this year's city operating budget continues to swim in red ink.
The current deficit stands at around $10 million. Next week council will decide on covering the majority of that gap by using capital improvements money, but other sources of savings still need to be found.
