TOLEDO (WTOL) - There will soon be more activity at the Toledo Police Department's Northwest District Station after losing its Roll Call earlier this year.
The Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol, also known as RSVP, is being moved to the district station on Sylvania Ave.
RSVP was organized in 2000 by the Toledo police. It serves as a monitoring service for homebound and at-risk senior citizens. Members drive red patrol cars so residents in the neighborhood will see them coming and going from the staton.
You may recall many folks were disappointed when Roll Call was eliminated; they feared the loss of police presence would increase crime.
But Councilman Tom Waniewski wants folks to understand the station remained open and patrols around were not affected. He's also grateful Chief Mike Navarre agreed to move RSVP.
