VINCENT, Ohio (AP) - Their family says two students face suspension for chaining themselves to the flagpole outside their southeast Ohio high school.
Teenage brothers Robert and Kenneth Grady say their hours-long protest Monday was over the faded and tattered condition of the American flag at Warren High School in Vincent. The boys also were upset that the school's morning Pledge of Allegiance had been reduced to once a week.
Principal Dan Leffingwell says new flags were ordered and happened to arrive Monday. He says the daily pledge was dropped accidentally and would be restored. The Gradys' parents say they support their sons even as each faces a 10-day school suspension.
Principal Leffingwell did not immediately return a message for further comment on Tuesday.
