TOLEDO (WTOL) - If you think that picture you sent on your cell phone is private, think again. In fact, several teens in Michigan may be facing serious charges because of messages they sent on their cell phones.

Teens are in trouble here as well, as News 11 found out during a trip to the Juvenile Detention Center in downtown Toledo. They got in trouble by taking nude pictures on their cell phones and sending them to friends.

These days, many teens say they text more than they talk on the phone, and some parents say they text their kids more than they talk with them face-to-face.

But the picture feature is getting some teens into trouble. In Michigan, a teen sent a nude photo of herself to her girlfriends, who then passed the picture to others. Now they all face porn charges.

In Northwest Ohio, a 16-year-old, trying to become popular, "sent a naked pic of herself to one of my guy friends. He forwarded it to everyone in his contacts so whole school got it," said Amber Thomas.

Officials say any nude picture of someone underage is considered child pornography. It's a felony to keep that type of photo.
