(WTOL) - Eight months ago, our four Weigh In To Win contestants became a team pledging to share their weight loss.

Here's a quick look at where they all started:

  • Denise, a Toledo police officer, weighed in at 224
  • Heather, a working mom, weighed in at 223
  • Jennifer, a high school chemistry teacher, weighed in at 261
  • Rodney, a minister, weighed in at 324.

Eight months later, Salon Soto is donating a day of pampering. It's a reward for several months of hard work.

Rodney tells us, "It's a total life-changing transformation."

Heather says, "It's changed my life. It's changed my perception of myself."

Even though the program is over, Denise isn't finished with her weight loss journey. "It's a great start. I'm on my way," she says.

Sitting here slimmer and wiser, Jennifer tells us, "The bottom line is you have to move more and eat less."

That's something all of our team members did with the help of their YMCA personal trainers and Weight Watchers. The team helped our contestants lose pounds wisely and gain a greater perspective.

Heather says, "I hoped to lose weight, but actually it changed me completely."

The lessons learned here include discipline and patience. Jennifer says, "It took 30-some years to get like this, so it's not going to happen overnight."

Denise ads, "Start moving because it's not going to go away by itself."

After the salon, all the contestants unveil their new look courtesy of Dillards.

As they move on, they're staying close as a team but reaching out to others. Rodney hopes to lead by example. "They'll see what has happened for me."

Denise has words of wisdom for beginners. "We all have good days and bad days, but it gets so much better."

So what was the best part? Jennifer says, "I think the best part of the whole thing is that I gained life-long friends."

Rodney agrees. "We're going to continue this journey together."
