(WTOL) - This week in weigh in to win, we take a look at the benefits of having an exercise partner.
Rodney is teaming up by using an exercise partner to keep himself motivated on his way to reaching his Weigh In To Win goals.
His YMCA Trainer Renee says this is one of the best ways to beat burnout. "It's nice to have someone to be there for you... to support you and say, 'Hey, I know you're having a bad day, but come on. Let's go and get a good work-out in so you'll feel better"
Working out with a buddy is more than just talk. Clinical studies back up the benefits. Studies show people who workout with a group or friend ultimately keep it up over the long run.
Even if you're at different fitness levels, just adapt the exercises. Normally Rodney works out with his wife. "We're able to switch up exercises and do some of the same exercises but modify them. She's doing lighter weight than probably what I'll be doing," Rodney tells us.
If his wife isn't there, Rodney's not shy about asking someone else. "They're depending on you to help them with their exercise, and you're depending on them to help you with your exercise," he tells us.
