DETROIT (AP) - The United Auto Workers has launched an advertising campaign attacking Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
UAW President Ron Gettelfinger discussed the $3 million television, radio and Internet ad campaign Tuesday afternoon with reporters at the union's Detroit headquarters. The ads will begin running today in four industrial states, including Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
They will feature UAW members and offer a message that working families can't afford McCain. The UAW says more than 1 million active and retired members live in those four states. An e-mail message was left for McCain campaign regional spokeswoman Sarah Lenti.
The UAW has endorsed McCain's Democratic opponent, Barack Obama.
