TOLEDO (WTOL) - Prescription drug abuse is the fastest growing drug problem in our country, and it's hitting teens hard.
In downtown Toledo, a new effort to stem the bleeding of the problem is unveiled. The task force is being led by Juvenille Court Judge Denise Cubbon.
It's being put together by the community partnership. Teens are abusing prescription drugs like painkillers and ADHD medications at alarming rates. They're stealing them from family members, and it quickly explodes into a life-threatening addiction.
"There's a bridge between alcohol and heroine, and sometimes that bridge is a prescription drug," says Deacon Dziezawski, the Executive Director of Community Partnership.
