WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican Sen. George Voinovich says he will support the proposed economic bailout package, one of a few lawmakers from Ohio to endorse the $700 billion plan.
Voinovich says the proposed plan is a key step to cure what ails the country's economy. Congressional leaders compromised on a bailout plan that President Bush says will keep a crisis from spreading.
Voinovich says it was important to act quickly on the plan during a credit crunch. Ohio's other U.S. senator, Sherrod Brown, says he hasn't seen the final details and hasn't yet decided whether he would support the unpopular plan.
Cleveland-area Rep. Dennis Kucinich is opposing the plan. He says the price tag is too high and too many questions remain unanswered.
