Robbery suspect caught by off-duty Toledo cop

TOLEDO (WTOL) - News 11 has learned that a man entered a chiropractor's office on the 1800 block of N. Reynolds around 8 a.m. Friday.

Police say 20-year-old Ernest Murphy walked into the office carrying an 8-in. butcher knife and proceeded to rob the folks in the waiting room.

Off-duty Toledo police officer Dan Wagner was in one of the back rooms for an appointment. When he heard about the robbery, he jumped into action, chasing Murphy down and tackling him in a nearby yard.

Murphy tells News 11 he was just out for a jog. He has been charged with three counts of aggravated robbery.
