'Toledo Choose Local' celebrates 1-year anniversary

From a news release:

TOLEDO - Toledo Choose Local, a non-profit organization supporting locally owned, independent businesses in the Toledo area, is celebrating its one-year anniversary Thursday Sept. 25.

In one year, this grassroots organization has grown to over 100 members, including businesses, families and individuals. Toledo Choose Local offers its members a listing in its online business directory and printed business directory.

TCL encourages business members to participate in its networking and educational events, and to collaborate on advertising, marketing, purchasing and events. Last winter, Toledo Choose Local announced Toledo's first Buy Local Week and sponsored a Local Business Scavenger Hunt. The Buy Local Week was recognized by both Lucas County and Toledo City Council. This holiday season Toledo Choose Local will sponsor similar events encouraging holiday shopping at locally-owned, independent businesses.

A new board of directors will be elected Thursday at its annual meeting at 6pm. The anniversary party will follow from 7-11 p.m. with prizes, drinks, food and community spirit! Tickets are $15 at the door. The meeting will be held at the historic Mansion View Inn, 2035 Collingwood Blvd. in the Old West End.

Toledo Choose Local was established to create awareness about the value that locally-owned, independent businesses bring to our community, both economically and aesthetically.
