TOLEDO (WTOL) - One week ago the apartment complex in the 1700 block of West Bancroft was an eyesore and a safety hazard. Today, things are looking much better, due largely to the intervention of Call 11 for Action problem solver Mika Highsmith.

On Tuesday, Mika visited Mike Chiles, who'd called her for help.

Two weeks ago, one side of the building was dilapidated and littered with trash; the other side's doors were all open, inviting trouble.

Chiles said he was upset with the apparent prostitution and gang activity happening in the building. Even more upsetting was the fact that he couldn't seem to get any help from the city.

But, happily, the Sulphur Springs crew cleaned the mess out of each unit and installed locks. The message is that getting involved can make a big difference in neighborhoods.
