Norwalk Furniture closes, leaving 500 folks without jobs

NORWALK (WTOL) - Five-hundred people are now out of a job in northwest Ohio.

Norwalk Furniture is Huron County is shutting down for good. The company fell on hard times when home sales started slipping.

At a meeting Thursday night, former workers were given information on insurance, education and job placement. Many of them say it is time to get over being upset and start moving forward.

Norwalk Furniture was the second largest employer in the city of Norwalk. The furniture maker is looking for a buyer, but if a sale were to go through, former workers would have to reapply, News 11 has been told.
