Celebrating Toledo area's finest young leaders

From a news release:

More than 170 eligible candidates for the 20 Under 40 Leadership Recognition Program will be recognized on Thursday, September 25, at a reception and program beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the lobby of Fifth Third Center at One SeaGate. During the 7 p.m. program, 20 individuals will be announced as this year's 20 Under Forty award recipients.

The event is open to the public at $25 per person, which is payable at the door. For questions or reservations, call 419-247-1759 or go to www.20under40toledo.com.

An independent panel of judges selected the 20 candidates for recognition. The 20 Under 40 program focuses on individuals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their careers and/or in the community. It is intended that the program will further motivate young leaders in our area.

"There are no losers in this group. By virtue of nomination, these individuals are being recognized for their abilities and achievements," said Dave Kuhl from Eastman and Smith, a long time sponsor and coordinator of the event.

Over the last 12 years, 240 young, community leaders have been recognized through the 20 Under 40 program. At the conclusion of the 2008 event, there will be 260 award recipients.

This year's sponsors include Toledo Edison, Eastman and Smith, Fifth Third Bank and Plante & Moran. The media partner is The Toledo Business Journal and media support is provided by WTOL, Toledo's News Leader.  Chrys Peterson will serve as master of ceremonies at the recognition/awards event for the thirteenth consecutive year.

The Toledo Symphony and the Toledo Museum of Art have been included again this year as Cultural Arts Sponsors.

This year's candidates come from the greater Toledo area, including Whitehouse, Waterville, Fremont, Bowling Green, Ottawa and other Northwest Ohio communities.
