WOOD COUNTY, OH (WTOL) - Lake Township police responded around 2:30 Monday afternoon to a call from 209 Grove Street.

When they arrived, they found Julia Bedford lying in the street with a stab wound. The 41-year-old was rushed to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where she died.

The suspect, 61-year-old Larry Adler, is charged with murder.

According to our media partner, the Toledo Blade, the couple had been together for 20 years and had a 17-year-old son.

Police say Walbridge is a still a safe community and neighbors should rest easy.

"These incidents do not occur very often in small towns and it is shocking, as you can see by all the people that are out here. But we're doing our jobs and we'll get this taken care of," says Lake Township Police Chief Mark Hummer.

Larry Adler is being held on a one million dollar bond and will be arraigned Tuesday in Perrysburg Municipal Court.
