PITTSBURGH (AP) - A 21-year-old Ohio woman who just wrapped up a 325 mile swim says she could keep going.
Katie Spotz swam the length of the Allegheny River to raise money and awareness for the Blue Planet Run Foundation. Her swim started in a spring in a farmer's field near the New York line, and went all the way to Pittsburgh where the Allegheny meets the Monongahela River to form the Ohio River.
Spotz says she walked the first two days since the water was too shallow to swim.
Blue Planet is a nonprofit whose goal is to bring clean drinking water to the estimated one billion people worldwide who lack it.
In December, she plans to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean, some 2,500 miles from West Africa to South America, for Blue Planet.
